A1 Hrvatska is part of A1 Telekom Austria Group – the leading provider of digital services and communication solutions in Central and Eastern Europe. A1 Telekom Austria Group operates in seven countries and together they provide services for approximately 24 million customers. A1 Hrvatska employs about 2000 people, and they take care of the needs of 2 million customers on an daily basis.
Video surveillance and intrusion detection systems are implemented at 25 stores, while in three administrative buildings and at about 150 external technical locations and offices throughout Croatia, in addition to video surveillance and intrusion detection system, an access control system is also implemented. The access control system in administrative buildings of A1 Hrvatska is achieved by contactless biometric fingerprint readers at the entrance and exit of each building and contactless card readers. At some locations, there are readers with two-factor authentication (card reading plus PIN entry).

A system for license plate recognition (LPR) is installed at the entrance of the administrative building complex. It automatically detects the license plate as an access medium and allows ticketless entering (or exiting) in the parking lot.
When entering a parking lot, a personalized welcome message is displayed on a large screen for the drivers of authorized vehicles which are identified via a license plate recognition system. Visitors are also shown a welcome message on the screen, and after the security guard assigns them a parking space through the Epsimax application, the number of the parking space and an approximate route on how to get to the assigned space are displayed on the screen.

By installing a thermal camera in the administrative building of A1 Hrvatska, the possibility of COVID-19 infection has been reduced to a minimum. At the entrances in administrative buildings, the real-time camera measures and displays the highest detected temperature on a person’s face and in the event of an alarm (detected temperature above the upper allowed limit) activates the flashing light installed at the reception. However, in order to use the full potential of the camera, it is integrated with the access control system, which then blocks certain readers and/or doors in the event of a high-temperature alarm.

The Epsimax application allows reception desk operators inside the main administrative building to have full control over access readers connected to gates. Reception desk operators or security guards also have insight into the current status of entry readers and the ability to manage them (they can either enable or disable entrance to employees at any time).
To control the perimeter of the administrative building complex, standard video surveillance cameras, thermal cameras, and radars are installed along the fence of the complex. If cameras detect activity classified as an alarm, a notification appears in the Epsimax SW module called Alarm Center. The alarm center module, in addition to the event text description, allows the operator to see a live image from the camera on which the event was detected.

The integration of cameras (both video and thermal) and radar with the Epsimax application allows the operator to have an overview of the complete situation from a single interface, and monitoring is further facilitated by an Interactive Map module. Clicking on the selected camera on the interactive map, the Video Surveillance SW module displays a live image from that camera. When an alarm event occurs, the Alarm Center SW module automatically displays the image from the device on which the alarm was triggered. In addition to sound and visual alarm notifications in real-time, it is possible to filter events recorded with a thermal camera or video camera during a certain period and view recordings of these events. Inside the interactive map, other elements can be managed and controlled, for example, the opening of barriers or doors.

The biggest advantage of the Epsimax application is the possibility of integration with third-party systems. For example, the visitor and external contractor registration module as well as the access control system are successfully integrated into Epsimax where authorities or rights in these systems are administrated.
