The development project of the Žnjan Plateau in Split has significantly improved the quality of life for residents and created a new space for socializing, recreation, and hosting cultural events. The landscaped area of 150,000 square meters makes this location the second-largest green space in Split.

The plateau features public squares, an amphitheater, various playgrounds, sports fields and clubs, beaches, and hospitality facilities, forming a functional and content-rich urban environment. Such a complex requires adequate parking capacity. Parking is a crucial part of any urban infrastructure, as it directly impacts traffic flow, user safety, and the overall functionality of public spaces. The project has provided 1,000 parking spaces, which has proven sufficient for both residents and visitors.

Parking solutions were implemented by ECCOS

Approximately 500 parking spaces are located in an underground garage, while the remaining spaces are situated in open parking areas. At ten entry and exit points, LPR (License Plate Recognition) cameras have been installed to identify vehicle license plates. The LPR system enables faster vehicle flow, as the barrier (gate) opens before the vehicle reaches it when exiting the garage or parking area.

Centralized system management is achieved through LED displays and occupancy indicators. More than 60 LED displays have been installed to guide traffic and show the number of available parking spaces. These displays provide information on available spaces in the direction of travel, as well as the total number of free spaces per level within the garage.

Additional guidance is provided by sensors installed above each parking space, indicating its status using different colors (available – green, occupied – red) or type (disabled, family, electric vehicle spaces). The colored occupancy indicators allow drivers to easily identify free spaces from a distance, reducing the time spent searching for parking.

Part of the parking area is available free of charge, while the remaining spaces are subject to payment via ten payment machines, with options for both cash and card payments. Public safety is further enhanced by a video surveillance system consisting of more than 85 IP cameras.

Integration of Smart Management Systems

By integrating parking equipment from the manufacturer Skidata, centralized and efficient parking management has been achieved. The integration of vehicle access control, occupancy monitoring, and parking payment ensures stable system operation, more efficient infrastructure management, and a faster, more user-friendly parking experience.

In addition to these parking solutions, ECCOS has developed a comprehensive software platform for urban digitalization — ESCEP (Eccos Smart City Enablement Platform). This platform enables more efficient city administration, enhances public safety, and simplifies access to everyday services for both citizens and tourists.

Its benefits are already recognized by numerous cities across Croatia, which have adopted it as a reliable solution for building safe, sustainable, and smart urban environments.
